What is FFMI?
The Fat Free Mass Index is a formula that measures the amount of lean muscle mass you have relative to your height.
It is a useful tool for bodybuilders and athletes to track their progress and determine their ideal weight.

FFMI vs BMI
The BMI is a simple calculation that uses your height and weight to determine if you are underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese.
The FFMI is a more accurate measure of body composition than the BMI because it takes into account your lean muscle mass, which is not factored into the BMI.
Moreover, athletic individuals frequently demonstrate BMI values that fall into overweight or obese categories due to their increased muscle mass, which may erroneously suggest health issues where there are none.
How to calculate the FFMI
The FFMI is calculated by dividing your lean body mass (LBM) by the square of your height in meters.
LBM = Body Weight - (Body Weight × Body Fat Percentage)
FFMI = LBM / (Height in meters)²
